The story of Tanneries Haas

What began in 1842 as a shoe sole factory has grown into one of the most prestigious tanneries in the world. Tanneries Haas has received numerous prestigious certifications and counts some of the most well-known fashion brands among its clients.

This 6th generation tannery of high-quality calf leather is based in the Alsace region of France. The company's history dates back more than 170 years, when Aloïse Haas started a tannery to support the shoe sole factory. Since then, the company has continued to evolve and has become one of the most important tanneries in the world. Through continuous innovation and a philosophy focused on quality, craftsmanship, and sustainability, the tannery has gained worldwide recognition and acclaim. One of those innovations is the development of Novocalf® leather with a unique touch, appearance, and softness.

Tanneries Haas uses only the highest quality raw materials and takes careful measures to minimize its ecological footprint. The tannery is a member of Leather Naturally and has been certified Bronze by the Leather Working Group, a mark that oversees the leather industry's move towards sustainability.
