The story of tannery Conceria Il Ponte

Between the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the impressive Renaissance buildings of Florence lies the village of Ponte a Cappiano, quietly hidden among the rolling hills of Tuscany. The bridge (Il Ponte), built by the famous Medici family in Florentine style, reveals the location of the Il Ponte tannery, which has been based in this village since 1961. Like the bridge, the tannery moves effortlessly between old and new.

By embracing new techniques, it also preserves its rich family tradition and traditional craftsmanship in producing its beautiful vegetable tanned leather. The leather collections are created using the same methods as generations ago: with time, care, and only natural extracts for the tanning process.

The Il Ponte tannery is one of nineteen tanneries in the region certified by the Consortium for Genuine Italian Vegetable Tanned Leather, guaranteeing artisanal and natural tanning. In addition, the tannery holds a Leather Working Group (gold) certification. This means your piece of leather is 100% produced in Italy under strictly controlled production processes.

The tannery also promotes and sells unique pieces of cow (bovine) leather that are sometimes considered inferior, such as the belly of the cow. This tannery proves otherwise with top-quality leather collections featuring a lively look and beautiful colors.
